The Sunyani Municipality is located in the heart of Brong Ahafo Region, Sunyani also currently served as the Regioal Capital. It lies between Latitudes 70 55’N and 70 35’N and Longitudes 20 W and 20 30’W. It shares boundaries with the Wenchi Municipal to the north, Berekum Municipal and Dormaa East Districts to the west, Asutifi District to the south and Tano South District to the east.
The municipal has about 27 settlements which are under the jurisdiction of the Sunyani Traditional Council and seventeen towns. The Traditional Council is the traditional authority of the people and responsible for mobilizing its people for development.
The region boasts of one of the few water falls in the country. It attracts hundreds of local and international tourists annually.
Brong Ahafo region is really endowed with historical heritage that compels one to visit.
The government has equipped the Sunyani Regional Hospital with modern equipment estimated at about seven million dollars (GH c19 million) as part of efforts to upgrade it into a referral hospital.
